Dark Dreams

Pie Rick certainly wears his inner Gilmour on his sleeve... and I don't mind a bit. I also detect generous batches of Hayward here and there. Again, I have no objections. Rick is an accomplished composer and musician, and I unhesitatingly recommend all five records in my collection.
Dogger Dog

Dogger Dog Dark, twisted, brooding progressive rock at its finest. Another gorgeous album from Rick Miller, who, album after album, continues to strike a careful balance between melody, theme, and execution. If you're looking for melancholy made beautiful, "Dark Dreams" is an album just for you. Favorite track: Man Out Of Time.

(March 7, 2015) Favorite track: Angels In The Forest.

I have traveled in this desert for so long, I’m in fear that I can’t carry on. I dream now of my home for which I yearn. For I know now, it is time to return. My oasis in the desert isn’t gone, For as long as there’s life, I’ll go on. Each day that I see through to the end, Adds a purpose to the message that I’ll send. Crying out to be free, I can feel the anger in me. Rising up to take back what we own, As the people of the city battle on.

She wandered lonely through the forest, Darkness filled her as she cried. Along the pathway, to the clearing, A bed of roses where she died. Fear not the Prince of Darkness, You will learn to understand. Death is the only answer, You hold the question in your hands. The empty breeze plays through the shadows, As the leaves begin to fall. A child awakes to distant thunder, While we await the siren’s call. Seek not my understanding, You only need to understand. Death is but an illusion, You hold the answer in your hands. I followed footsteps through the clearing, To a place where Angels cry, A bed of roses gently forming, Lonely place for her to die. Look for me in the forest, There’s no need to understand, Life is the only answer, You hold the question in your hands. Show me the way out of the shadows, Darkness rose as twilight comes. I long to feel the touch of morning, Reaching up to greet the sun. Seek not my understanding, You only need to understand. Life is just an illusion, You hold the answer in your hands.

Each day I awake, there’s a time, Before I recall that life’s no longer mine. I feel the wind in my hair, And hear the sound of rain in the evening air. But then the moment is done, The pain that grows inside me isn’t gone. I rise with the sun every day, I live what I can with the time that’s left to me. But then the evening comes, Reminds me that my time isn’t long. And when I’m with you, I feel free, Like time’s standing still, And nothing worries me. The sun will still shine when I’m gone, For life carries on, That’s the way it’s meant to be. But then the evening comes, Reminds me that my time isn’t long.

Whispers 05:23
I’m dreaming of you now, With your arms reaching gently for me. A voice calls from the shadows, Whispering so tenderly. The clock on the mantle doesn’t see. I look in the mirror, Your face seems much nearer, Your eyes glowing dark in the light. My arms reach out to you, They seem to pass through you, This vision has faded from sight. I awake in the darkness, There’s a scent of perfume in the air. And although I see nothing, I know that you have been here. Your voice softly calling, I can hear. I look in the mirror, Your face seems much nearer, Your eyes glowing dark in the light. My arms reach out to you, They seem to pass through you, This vision has faded from sight.

The man who lives beside me wants to set the world on fire, I’d worry more about it, but I know that he’s a liar. The people across the street have moved their TV set outside, They want the world to understand, they’ve nothing much to hide. It feeds the seed in me. I wander down the street to get a taste of morning air, A snarling dog comes after me, Awakened from it’s lair. The outside world has turned on me, I see it in their eyes, I guess I’ll stay inside for now until they realize, It’s time for them to see. They live their lives in a haze, Like rats, they’re caught in a maze, Of quiet desperation and obedience, I know that I’m just the same. I need a chance to be free, These darkened walls are killing me. If I could rise above, then I’d see, The light beyond the trees. The houses on this street were built all facing the same way, The architect slept well at night for he’d collect his pay. Perhaps a stick of dynamite would liven up their lives, But then again insurance rates would surely have to rise. It feeds the seed in me. They live their lives in a haze, Like rats, they’re caught in a maze, Of quiet desperation and obedience, I know that I’m just the same. I need a chance to be free, These darkened walls are killing me. If I could rise above, then I’d see, The light beyond the trees.

I watch the morning sun as it rises from the sea, But until the night is done, darkness lingers over me. To see a falling star, To wish upon a dream or was it just too far? Dreaming of the night. The story in your eyes show the words you couldn’t speak, So I look between the lines for the meaning that I need. To hear the ocean roar, As time goes by we reach to the other shore, Dreaming of the night. I wonder where she’s gone?

I walk alone to the place where I belong, As the evening takes the day away. This life of mine isn’t running out of time, Still the echoes come from long ago. I feel the moonlight haunting me, The voices in the breeze, The lonely tears that I recall. To be alone beside the sea, This longing to be free, The sadness washes over me. I saw the rising sun, and the battles that were won, On another world, so far away. The life I left behind, and the truth I didn’t find, Are more than memories now. They have returned. I feel the moonlight haunting me, The voices in the breeze, The lonely tears that I recall. To be alone beside the sea, This longing to be free, The sadness washes over me.

Sleep becomes you to icy dreams, Death reminds you how close it seems. Be not forgotten my lonely child, Come to the light, let us walk inside. Rise from darkness and icy dreams, Sleep reminds you how close death seems. See the bounty we offer you, Sacrifice to the multitude. Hear the siren, she calls to you. Cast her out, she’s the one. Follow me to the golden valley, Lucius waits for you there. See the bounty we offer you, Sacrifice to the multitude. Hear the siren, she calls to you. Cast her out, she’s the one
