One Of The Many

Atrophy 08:20
To lose oneself in a sea of words, To hear your name from a voice unheard. Each thought it seems comes from broken dreams. They speak without a sound, their words are fading now. And the memories from years ago rush up to greet me now, I’m basking in the glow of my lost youth. I take your hand and hold you gently in the morning sun, These days I will remember like grains of golden sand. Your face is fading slowly now as time slips through my hands. I understand your memory isn’t what it used to be. This is what we doctors call brain atrophy. I wake each morning knowing that the world has just begun. I don’t remember yesterday but that would spoil the fun. You come to see me Saturdays but I don’t know your name. I somehow want to be with you, but that would cause me pain. To see you standing next to him will make me go insane. Each day it seems is now lost to me, my dreams are made of sand. And yet I feel the need for some memories, As time slips through my hands. Like grains of golden sand, your face is fading slowly now, My dreams are what I am, your face is fading slowly now, As time slips through my hands, as time slips through my hands.

Time Goes On 03:52
Morning light is creeping upon me. I see by the shadows on the wall. In a thousand years, who’s going to remember? Your sins or your tears, time goes on. So why do I fear the impending darkness? No voices to hear, you are gone. I can’t help but feel this glorious sadness, The pathway is clear, life goes on. A thousand tears, I’ll always remember, Those heartbreaking years lasted too long. So why do I fear the impending darkness? No voices to hear. You are gone.
3.
Why? Why are you haunting me now? A ghost reaching backwards in time, Your memory lingers somehow. For I am your knight in white satin, Though nothing between us was real. For fifty long years I remember, Your eyes, the lonely tears. And how I longed to be near. A soul. A soul knows just where it belongs. The voice in your heart can’t be wrong. Should you’ve been with me all along? For I am your knight in white satin, And time hasn’t changed how I feel. For fifty long years I remember, Your touch, your body held near, That now I know wasn’t real.

Long, long ago, life before the machine. You had to think for yourself, Youtube was just a dream. You can be one of the many or be one of the few. Do you really need an iphone 3 to tell you what to do? We see the things we want to see, our version of reality. While fake news stories fill the air, the truth is hiding out somewhere. They want to scare the life from you, so you’ll tune in on pay per view. The truth gets torn to tiny bits, so we can reach a million hits.
6.
In the forest I will dream. I talked to your ghost the other day. You looked in my eyes as I heard you say, Why do you live in a dream? You know that I’m not what I seem. To die, to sleep, to sleep, to dream. Perchance to dream. For in this sleep of death, what dreams will come? Sometimes it can seem that life’s but a dream. To dream to sleep, what truth do you keep? Regardless of where, when or how, What matters is you’re with me now. I’m dreaming of Ophelia, her eyes as black as coal. A passion for the darkness is burning through my soul. Only fools will follow a dream that’s out of reach, There’s nothing left to barter, no promises to keep. A thousand years ago, you set my heart aglow. You ask me why I live life in a dream, Just close your eyes, you’ll soon see what I mean. I don’t care if I never see another day of reality. Dream so far away. Take me there to stay. You place your trust each day in the machine, You want to believe, but life’s not what it seems. I don’t care if I never see another day of reality. Look back through the years, I once dried your tears. I believe in the machine, but the world’s not what it seems. I checked into reality when a man came out who looked a lot like me. He said, “Welcome back to the old café, maybe not a dream but we hope you’ll stay.” Dreaming so far away, take me there to stay. I got lost on the other side with a memory and a place to hide. Welcome back to the old café, maybe not a dream but we hope you’ll stay. Save the memories for another day.

Wonderlust 06:45
This darkened heart will take me to a time and place, the ghost of you. I’m searching for the need to believe. Angel dust and golden hair, the forest green, a heart so fair. This forking path, the scent of a soul. Wonderlust, it follows me, the night begins to fall. My ship it drifts upon the sea, towards the Siren’s call. Toward the dying light, a broken angel falls, And through the dark of night, I hear the Siren’s call. I hear the Siren’s call. I hear the Siren’s call.
8.
Another Time 04:34
I remember you. Warm sunny days and the life we knew. Oh and how I thought my dreams were coming true, I remember you. How long does a lifetime last? You count the years and the die is cast. But no one really knows the days of future past, I remember them. It was long ago when I looked into your soul, Another time, another place. A dream to dark to share with a heart too old to care. A stitch in time, a change of face. Can memories just be erased? I remember when. Another place, another time, Oh but now I know, the story never ends, I remember when. For it was long ago when I looked into your soul, Another time, another place. A dream to dark to share with a heart too old to care. A sip of wine, your saving grace, Old memories will be replaced.

about

One Of The Many is my 2024 album of old style progressive rock made famous in the 60s and 70s by bands such as Pink Floyd, The Alan Parsons Project and The Moody Blues. So if you like your Prog rock with lots of heavy metal and jazz fusion, you may not find what you’re looking for here. I do hope you enjoy though.
